2022 SAISON
Bougebouge 2022 projects
BougeBouge events are community-based active living celebrations that bring together recreational athletes, the general public and local businesses to participate in physical activities and sports. The activities, both competitive and participatory, include walking courses, team building activities, introductory sessions in various sports and physical games to discover.
Programmation:
- BougeBouge Montréal souterrain – 10 Avril
- Weekend du Marathon BougeBouge Pointe Des Cascades – 6-7-8 Mai
- Festival BougeBouge Outaouais – 20-21-22 Mai
- Weekend du Marathon BougeBouge Verdun – 11 Septembre
- BougeBouge uOttawa – 2 Octobre
- BougeBouge Limbour – 22 Octobre
- BougeBouge Halloween Rivière-des-Prairies Pointe-aux-Trembles – 30 octobre
The adventure projects are programs that generally take place over a period of one month and focus on culture and pedagogy in a “road trip” style, combining a field of interest and/or learning linked to physical activity. Aimed primarily at the teen and young adult community, the adventures allow participants to travel through a territory and discover art, history, heritage and/or cultures. Using mobile technology and edutainment principles, participants engage in a digital journey that, linked to their actual physical activity (e.g., accumulation of miles traveled), allows them to unlock engaging educational content.
BougeBouge Social Franchises are a lever to drive active living leaders in communities. These committed individuals are often the driving force behind community sports initiatives (e.g. running clubs). BougeBouge offers them a unifying brand image, the support of a network of leaders like themselves and provides them with access to its digital platform containing visibility and management tools. By branding themselves with BougeBouge, these leaders raise awareness about the fight against physical inactivity in their community, mobilize active living stakeholders and participate in events.
The BougeBouge team offers its experience and expertise in organizing and facilitating active living activities to neighbourhood associations, municipalities and businesses that wish to offer ephemeral or recurring programming to their members, citizens or employees.

Positioning
Founded by triathlete and two-time Olympian Kathy Tremblay, BougeBouge is a social economy organization that aims to develop and maintain healthy lifestyle habits through physical activity.
Mission
Prevent physical dropout among the teen community, young families and retirees by creating educational programs and community events that motivate the development and maintenance of active lifestyle habits.
Vision
Create a sustainable vitality movement for active and healthy communities, mobilized around physical activity.
Areas of action
BougeBouge’s initiatives are based on the Self-Determined Motivation for Active Living (SDMOAL) approach, which promotes the creation of social ties, the development of skills and the support of autonomy, three essential pillars for the adoption and maintenance of active lifestyle habits. The BougeBouge programs and events respond to this through the following areas of action:
- Matching interests to physical activity: The best way to get people moving is to target an interest in each individual. Any interest is an opportunity to reach people who are less likely to move. The arts, history and heritage, travel and cultural discovery are the main areas of interest that can be combined with physical activity in an educational program;
- The mobilization of active living actors in communities: training centers, yoga studios, community centers, independent running clubs, independent influencers can influence the adoption and maintenance of active living habits. BougeBouge works to make them visible and to mobilize them in the communities through social franchises and the organization of events;
- The discovery of physical activities and sports: through its events, BougeBouge provides a multi-sport program allowing people of all ages to be exposed to and learn about new forms of activities.

Eco-responsible event management
At BougeBouge we pay a lot of attention to our environmental impact and that is why, for the past 3 years, we have been working in collaboration with Enviro Éduc Action in order to evaluate our impact during our events as well as to have recommendations to improve our current eco-responsible actions.
Here are some numbers from our latest report by Enviro Éduc-Action:
- BougeBouge Gatineau 2021 produced less ultimate waste per person than the reference ecoresponsible events in the CQEER study. (17.39 g/person for BougeBouge VS 27.18 g/person for the median reference)
- BougeBouge produced slightly more compostable materials per person than the median of the Quebec ecoresponsible events studied (130 g/pers. of compostable materials for BougeBouge VS 28 g/pers. for the median reference).
- A slight improvement of 2% in the event’s detour rate compared to the 2019 edition of BougeBouge, despite all the constraints of the pandemic context.
- In 2021, 91% of residual materials were not sent to landfill VS 89% in 2019.
”Since 2018, BougeBouge continues to improve and is on a great run. As a point of information, the most advanced events in green management in the region achieve a detour rate between 80 and 85%. You exceed that with good green planning before the event. – Jaelle Landry, Eco-responsible event management consultant
Here is the conclusion of the BougeBouge Outaouais 2021 Festival assessment by Jaelle Landry, eco-responsible event management consultant:
”The ecological management of the 2021 edition of Bouge Bouge can be considered as very good. Indeed, the sorting done by the EEA coordinator and Chuck and his team can be considered almost perfect, given the small quantity of materials present; all the materials were therefore carefully sorted. Enviro Educ-Action is confident that BougeBouge is effective in terms of environmental responsibility and that the event will be able to continue to grow as a result of the recommendations.
