Kitigan Zibi is an Anishinabe community of nearly 2,300 people. Proud of its roots and traditions, Kitigan Zibi has taken various initiatives to vitalize its community and culture. By taking charge of its schools, the community has been able to revitalize its cultural development and its language in addition to offering numerous tourist activities, including a visit to its cultural exhibition center.

According to Indigenous Tourism Quebec, Kitigan means desert or cultivated land and zibi means river, corresponding to the limits of the territory by the Eagle River and the Desert River.
