Boca Tapada

Costa rica

North of the Caribbean plain and Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui, along the Rio San Carlos, a few kilometers from the Rio San Juan that borders Nicaragua and north of the Sarapiqui region, are the villages of Boca Tapada and Santa Rita.

This region is superb, totally off the beaten track and really deserves to be visited for at least two nights. After passing through Sarapiqui and Pital, a 36 kilometer trail goes north to the mouth of the Rio San Carlos. There you will discover an almost virgin region, where animal observations are easy and where the rural environment is not yet modified by the tourist developments.
