INITIATIVE: BougeBouge continues to shake things up—literally. In recent weeks, the organization has installed scooter racks in several schools in Greater Montreal, Île Perrot, and the Outaouais region to encourage students to adopt active transportation in their daily lives.
This initiative aims to make active transportation more accessible by providing a safe and convenient place to park scooters at school or around town. The goal is to create an environment that encourages physical activity from a young age, naturally integrated into students’ daily lives.
Schools that have received support include: François-Perrot School, École à l’Unisson, Gentilly School, Jean-Paul-Riopelle School, Cheval-Blanc School, Rose-des-Vents School, École secondaire de l’Île School, Notre-Dame School, Vieux Verger School, Notre-Dame-de-Lorette School, and École de la Samare School. This remarkable local mobilization demonstrates that the desire to act for youth health is well-established on the ground.
The City of Notre-Dame-de-l’Île-Perrot and the Pincourt municipal pool are also among the locations that have received these new devices. This initiative is part of a broader approach to developing municipal services that promote active mobility, driven by close collaboration between BougeBouge and municipalities. Together, they contribute to building more dynamic and accessible living environments.
