The BougeBouge Medals

A BougeBouge medal is much more than just a medal. It’s what remains after the race, the memory of the effort, the perseverance, and the moment you crossed the finish line.

Very few runners tuck their medal away in a drawer. Most hang it on a wall, place it near their running shoes, or keep it somewhere they can see it every day. It’s not about showing it off. It’s about reminding themselves, especially on the days when motivation is hard to find, of what they’re capable of achieving.

Every medal tells a different story. For some, it represents their first nonstop 5K. For others, it’s a challenge completed with family, a return to running after an injury, or simply the courage to sign up in the first place. Behind every medal are weeks of training, early morning runs, kilometres logged in the rain, and that little voice that sometimes whispered, “Give up.” A BougeBouge medal celebrates all of it.

In the end, it’s not just the distance that matters, it’s the journey that got you there. And every time you look at your medal, you’re reminded that you had what it took to cross the finish line.

A medal for each race

At BougeBouge, every medal is unique because every event is unique. It’s important to us that each medal reflects the identity of the race and the experience shared by its participants.

Take the BougeBouge Marathon & Verdun Festival, for example. Set along the St. Lawrence River, the event features a lively atmosphere with music, food trucks, and families cheering on the runners. Its medal is inspired by that energy and festive spirit.

In contrast, BougeBouge Wakefield immerses participants in nature, with forest trails, the iconic covered bridge, and the scenic paths of Gatineau Park. Its medal captures the beauty of autumn and the warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes this event so special.

Every race has its own story, atmosphere, and identity. Every medal is designed to become a lasting reminder of that experience.

The Craftsman Behind Our Medals

bougebouge medals

Behind every BougeBouge medal is a craftsman: Jonathan Maher of RunMaps. Jonathan is a father, runner, and entrepreneur.

RunMaps was born from a simple idea: every race deserves to be remembered, whether it’s a first 5K or a full marathon.

As a runner himself, Jonathan designs each medal as a tribute to the effort it represents, not simply as a promotional item. His philosophy is:

“The achievement isn’t just about the distance—it’s about the journey it took to get there.”

“Impossible doesn’t exist.”
