Wachiya! Congratulations, you have arrived in the community of Mistissini.

Mistissini

Crie

Mistissini means “great rock” in Iinuuayimuwin and takes its name from the giant rock that has served as a landmark for countless generations. The municipality of Mistissini is located in Eeyou Istchee, the land of the people near Lac du même, the largest natural lake in Quebec. Tourism is important to the Mistissini Eeyou, especially for fishing due to its proximity to several lakes, as well as snowmobiling in the winter.

Allison Coon-Come is from the Mistissini community. She has already made several films with the Wapikoni mobile. Her artistic approach is driven by her desire to understand the world, to look beyond appearances, beyond borders. She wants to study cinema in order to pursue a career in directing.

According to Indigenous Tourism Quebec, more than 4,500 inhabitants make up the Cree community of Mistissini on the southeast shore of Lake Mistissini. The community offers a happy mix of tradition and modernity.
