It is with great pleasure that BougeBouge presents the RX1 Nation challenge!

As part of its mission to counter physical dropout, BougeBouge offers its participants the discovery and access to new sports activities that they can continue to practice afterwards.

The experience that, RX1 Nation offers coincides perfectly with this mission by deploying functional events with both recreational and competitive components. In addition, RX1 Nation races have been part of the “Réseau du Sport Étudiant du Québec (RSEQ)” since 2019, which allows young people who join this sport to join their school teams.

What’s this?  There will be 1 challenge per week over a period of 3 weeks, so 3 different challenges. The challenges will have the same composition as the RX1 Nation sporting events, i.e. running sections (or walking sections for the discovery category) interspersed with sequences of body weight exercise stations. The objective is to complete the whole as quickly as possible.

Who is it for? For everyone! There is a Discovery category, without pressure and with movements adapted to everyone, to introduce new recruits to the RX1 Nation concept. There is also a Competitive category for sports enthusiasts.

After each challenge period, the participant in the Competitive category sends in his or her time. A ranking is produced every week. The 3 challenges add up and will give an overall ranking.

Q.: What is a virtual challenge?

A: It is a challenge that a participant must physically meet from home or another location and does not involve a gathering. The challenge can be done at the time and place that suits you while respecting the prescribed time limits (see rules above).

Q. : How can I access the private page “BougeBouge RX1 Nation”?

A: We will give you access to the page once your registration has been confirmed.

Q. : Can I change category?

A: You have until Monday June 15th to change category without affecting your ranking. You will be able to change categories afterwards but your previous results will not be transferred to the new category as the challenges will be different from one category to another.

Q.: How do I measure the distances to be covered?

A: If you don’t have a GPS watch, there are several smartphone applications that have a GPS option. To measure distance, you can walk the distance and put an object (water bottle, cone, toy) at the edge of the distance. Also, you can use a Google map-like application to plot your route before you leave. If the distance to be covered is 1 km, calculate 500 meters outward and 500 meters return to return to the starting point to perform the functional exercises.

Q. : What is the difference between the Discovery and Competitive categories?

A: The duration of the challenges, the number of repetitions and the distances to be covered will be higher for participants in the Competitive category.

Duration of challenges :

Competitive: 45 to 75 minutes
Discovery: 20 to 40 minutes
Competitive Junior: 15 to 30 minutes
Junior discovery: 15 to 20 minutes

Running distance :

Competitive between 3 km and 5 km
Discovery between 1 km and 3 km (possibility to walk)
Competitive Junior up to 1.5 km
Junior discovery less than 1 km

Q.: My child is under 11 years old, can I enter him/her in the regular categories?

A: Of course you can! You know your children’s ability, so you are free to register them in the category of your choice. They will be classified among older participants, without any privilege due to their age.

Q.: What does an RX1 Nation challenge look like?

A: Here is an example of the steps to follow for a competitive challenge:

  • Start the timer
  • 1 km run
  • 40 walking lunges
  • 50 jumping jacks
  • 20 sit-ups
  • 3 km run
  • 10 burpees
  • 10 push-ups
  • 10 exercises X
  • 10 Y exercises
  • 10 Z exercises
  • Stopping the stopwatch
  • Send the result

Q.: I’m not familiar with the names of the exercises, how will I be able to complete the challenges?

A: Detailed explanatory videos will be posted on the private Facebook page. In addition, on the data sheet, there will be images of the exercises to be performed. No problem, everyone will be able to complete the challenges.

Q.: Can I do the same challenge several times?

A: Yes, as many times as you wish. But once the result has been sent, it cannot be changed.

Q.: Why should I participate?

A: To motivate yourself to move and keep a healthy body in a healthy mind during this “special” period of confinement. Several studies have shown that the outdoors and physical activity have a positive and direct impact on mood, stress, energy and body.

Come on, get moving with us!
